UCSF Genetic Counseling Program

We are very pleased to announce that the UCSF Genetic Counseling Program received professional accreditation and will begin accepting applications in October 2020. The first cohort will matriculate September 2021. Under the championship of Genetic Counselor and Program Director Cindy Morgan, this exciting new two-year program will offer graduates a Master of Science degree in Genetic Counseling, as well as access to UCSF’s exclusive focus on health care and its many partners in the Bay Area.

In 2017, California State University Stanislaus (CSU) agreed to transition their Master’s in Genetic Counseling Program to UCSF. Synthesizing CSU’s well-structured foundation with UCSF’s access to genomics laboratories, specialty clinics, and research partners, Cindy Morgan and a committee of dedicated geneticists designed a powerful new curriculum well rooted in robust science education, humanistic counseling theory and the pursuit of clinical excellence.

This full-time program will matriculate 12 students per class and be primarily based at UCSF Mission Bay. Congratulations to Director Cindy Morgan and Associate Director Allyson Scott for their excellent work!
